August has some of the hottest racing of the whole season, the NBL Grand Nationals and the ABA Blackjack Nationals in Reno, NV are two of the best events of the year and Clayborn BMX had riders represented at both. Clayborn's lil guy, Gabe Barwick made the trek to Louisville, KY for the 2008 NBL Grand Nationals and finished his first year as an Expert with the National number 13. Gabe worked hard and made a very tough 8-9 open and was squeezed out during his semi, but being his first year in the Expert ranks, Gabe has a good future in front of him. Gabe will be heading to Tulsa, OK for the ABA Grands, were he will be joining the rest of the Clayborn BMX Factory team for the "Greatest Race on Earth". Jordan "The Missile" Miranda and Brooke Crain had a great weekend in Reno, NV making all their mains, with Jordan winning cruiser both days and not to be out done, "Insane" Brooke Crain had a win in class and cruiser, with some of the best racing of the weekend in a very incredible 15 Girl class. Both Brooke and Jordan are looking to finish the season on top and with Lancaster and the Disney Cup coming up, look for both of them to be in the hunt when the Grands roll around.
What can be said about AA Pro Barry Nobles, all the hard work is paying off with strong finishes in the ABA Pro Titles (Class and Cruiser) chase. Pro cruiser in Reno was owned by Barry, taking the top of the podium both days, earning him the nickname "Alabama Slamma" and a 4th place finish in Class on Saturday and taking the 2nd spot in Class on Sunday. Barry then took in some track time at the OTC (Olympic Training Center) in California before heading off to Canada to take a part of the First ERA Flats only race and from there Barry headed out to Salt Lake City for the UCI Supercross race at the Dew Tour. As if that is not enough traveling for Barry, he is back in California for some ride time, before heading over to "Sin City" Las Vegas, NV for Interbike and then back to Cali for the ABA Golden State National in Lancaster, CA where he plans to gain on the top spot in the ABA. Barry will then head home for a few days before heading to Orlando, FL for the 2nd Annual Disney Cup, this 3 day national is the last race before the ABA Grands.
